Straightforward answers about how Yard Force works, what's included, and what to expect.
Getting Started & How It Works
We review your request and follow up within 1 business day. We may ask a few clarifying questions — yard photos are really helpful here. Once we have enough information, we'll confirm the exact scope with you. Nothing gets scheduled until you've reviewed and approved the plan.
No long-term contracts are required for most services. We do ask for reasonable notice to pause or cancel recurring plans. For larger project work like hardscaping or fence installation, we'll discuss expectations and agreements specific to that job during the scoping process.
For routine maintenance like mowing, pet waste removal, and seasonal cleanups, you typically don't need to be home. We confirm access details before the first visit and let you know if anything needs to be addressed. For project work like hardscaping or fencing, we'll coordinate accordingly based on scope.
Spring cleanups fill up fast in the Richmond area — we recommend reaching out in February or early March to secure your spot. Fall cleanups are best booked by late September or early October. Booking ahead ensures you get your preferred timing rather than working around availability.
Life happens — we're flexible. For recurring plans, just give us reasonable notice (ideally 48 hours or more) if you need to skip or reschedule a visit. For recurring mowing plans, skipping occasionally due to travel or weather is not a problem.
Our Crews & Service Quality
Yes. All services are coordinated by JMG Scientific Solutions LLC, and work is performed by vetted, insured subcontractors appropriate for each service type. We confirm insurance coverage before assigning any crew to a property.
You deal with Yard Force / JMG Scientific Solutions LLC throughout the process. We coordinate scope, scheduling, and crew assignment. Your point of contact for questions, changes, and follow-up is us — not the individual subcontractor. This is intentional: it gives you one consistent contact and removes the coordination burden from you.
Contact us right away — we take quality seriously and want to know if something fell short. Because we confirm scope before work begins, we're able to assess whether work met what was agreed. We aim to resolve any issues promptly and fairly. Communication is the most important part of getting this right.
For recurring plans, we aim for consistency — the same crew when possible. This is especially true for mowing, where familiarity with your property improves results over time. For one-time or seasonal jobs, the crew is assigned based on availability and skill set for the job type.
Specific Services
We mow to the appropriate height for your grass type and season. In the Richmond area, cool-season grasses like fescue are typically kept at 3.5–4 inches in summer (to resist heat stress), and warm-season grasses like zoysia can be mowed a bit shorter. If you have preferences, let us know during scoping and we'll note it for your crew.
No — seasonal cleanup and mulch installation are separate services, though we offer them together as a bundle. The cleanup clears out debris and preps the beds; mulch installation is a separate scope item. Many clients do both at spring cleanup for a full refresh. We'll confirm what you want included during the scoping process.
Pet waste removal is scoped to your specific yard size and number of pets. Larger yards or multi-dog homes are quoted accordingly — the process is always the same (full yard pickup, bag and remove, sanitary service), but the pricing reflects the time and volume involved. Just let us know your yard size and number of pets in your request.
Yes — that's one of the benefits of working with Yard Force. You don't need to find separate vendors for maintenance vs. project work. We coordinate both, with separate scopes for each. Many clients start with mowing and then add a project like a patio or fence install as a second job.
